Aptly named after the year, 1955, that Chelsea first triumphed winning the League title. The Copthorne hotel is located adjacent to the South Stand at Stamford Bridge. Enjoy a Three Course Meal with Wine before taking your match seats in the West Stand. The 55 Restaurant offers great hospitality at affordable prices.

Chelsea History

Chelsea have only ever had one home ground, Stamford Bridge, where they have played since foundation, and though the club has had substantial changes made to it since its inception in 1877, it retains its distinctive character. Originally able to accommodate up to 100,000 fans, by 2001 the north, west and southern parts of the ground were converted into all-seater stands and moved closer to the pitch, resulting in a capacity of approximately 41,000.

Chelsea have recorded several "firsts" in English football. Along with Arsenal, they were the first club to play with shirt numbers on 25 August 1928 in their match against Swansea Town, and they were the first English side to travel by aeroplane to a domestic away match when they visited Newcastle United on 19 April 1957. Chelsea were also the first First Division side to play a match on a Sunday, when they faced Stoke City on 27 January 1974.

On 19 May 2007, they became the first team to win the FA Cup at the new Wembley Stadium, having also been the last to win it at the old Wembley.
